How do I use a scroll? Scrolls work like this but I would highly recommend adding a homebrew rule to let any player cast from a spell scroll, even if it’s outside their class’s spell list. Why? Because it’s fun!

Players casting outside of their class’s spell list must make an ability check using their spellcasting ability to determine whether it casts successfully. The DC equals 10 + the spell’s level.

On a failed check, they must roll on the scroll mishap table.

Players without the spellcasting ability make an intelligence check at disadvantage.
